For insurers and takaful operators
Let policyholders file claims themselves and assess each one against the evidence.

Kenal for insurers is a self-service onboarding and claims service that lets insurers and takaful operators verify policyholders remotely and have each claim filed with photos and documents, then assessed against that evidence before it reaches an assessor.

Example: onboarding and a claim
A policyholder is verified once when they join, and that identity carries through to their first claim.
Step 1: Kenal eKYC
The policyholder verifies their MyKad or passport, passes liveness and face match, and is screened against AML, PEP and sanctions lists.
Step 2: Kenal Claims
After an incident, they file the claim on their phone with photos and documents. Kenal Claims checks the claimant, the cover and the evidence, and recommends a payout.
Your assessor opens a claim that is already checked, with each flag explained, and decides in one step.
Built for your regulator
Insurers and takaful operators follow BNM's rules on remote onboarding and fair claims handling. We design to them.
- BNM e-KYC for insurers and takaful operators
- Remote policyholder verification built to BNM's e-KYC requirements, with document, liveness and face match evidence kept per customer.
- AML/CFT and targeted financial sanctions
- Policyholders and claimants screened against AML, PEP and sanctions lists, with every decision recorded.
- Fair claims handling
- Each claim assessed against its evidence with the reasons written down, so decisions are consistent and explainable to the claimant.
We describe what we build to. Approval of your programme rests with you and your regulator. Read more on security at Kenal.
Questions we hear
How does Kenal Claims speed up claims handling?
Kenal Claims moves the work of checking a claim to the moment it is filed. Policyholders submit photos and documents on their phone, and each item is checked as it arrives. The claim reaches your assessor with the claimant verified, the cover confirmed, claimed items compared with the evidence and a recommended payout, so the assessor reviews exceptions instead of assembling the file.
Can takaful operators use Kenal?
Yes. Kenal eKYC, Kenal Claims and Kenal Document work the same way for takaful operators and conventional insurers. Participants are verified remotely to BNM e-KYC requirements, and claims are filed and assessed against their evidence. The product is configured to your own takaful products, cover rules and approval limits, so the workflow matches how your operator already works.
Does Kenal Claims make the final claim decision?
No. Kenal Claims recommends and your assessor decides. It checks the claimant's identity, whether the incident falls within cover and whether the photos and documents support each claimed item, then proposes a payout with any flags explained. Your assessor approves, adjusts or requests more information, and every step is recorded against the claim for audit.
